It took so long to create this picture, I'm not kidding either. This was drawn way back in last year and the color work started in February, it's now almost June.
I'm guessing that this took at least 24 hours from the line art stage to the finished colored stage, judgment is based upon the three hours I spent finishing the background today. This picture almost never became finished but that has more to do with the fact that I rarely see projects through to the end, if they end up taking more than a few hours to finish, with a few exceptions - this being the most recent one.

Most everything in this picture was done with the exact same brush with only the size, opacity, and flow changing. The only part of the picture that didn't use the same brush was the sand but most of the sand was done with the same brush as the rest of the picture. This tutorial <-- [link] --> was extremely helpful when working on the sun. Everything with the exception of the sun, sky, water, and sand became acquainted with the dodge and burn brushes at one point or another in this picture's long history.
This picture also killed my computer several times, though it isn't that hard to kill this computer.
{edit} There was a glaring mistake in this picture (or to me there was) and I finally got around to fixing it, it took me six months but the tiny 30 second fix is now up.
